Volunteer Experience
Lakehead Cross Country and Track and Field
First and foremost my volunteer duties for the longest time have been surrounding the Lakehead University
Cross Country and Track and Field teams. I consider my work done with the team to be voluntary because I am
representing Lakehead University at every moment I put on the uniform. I volunteer to showcase my university
in a positive light when I am on the track and secondly I take part in the Varsity athlete elementary school
program in Thunder Bay.
This program is organized by the athletics department and then carried out by the
varsity athletes, every elementary school in the city takes part in an exercise circuit that takes place in the
hangar. Almost every varsity sport has their own station and at the track station we try to implement a healthy lifestyle in the kids through teaching them the fundamentals of the sport. I believe it is very important to take part
in this program because these kids are always looking up to someone and I am proud to say that for a day that's me.
